Mixed reactions from our panel on the announcements made by Apple at WWDC last week, from excitement to disappointment, fuel the discussions on this month’s episode. Topics include iCloud, iOS5, OS X Lion, iTunes Match, Mac Defender, AT&T’s 4G LTE network, the Apple / Nokia patent settlement and more.

OWC Radio is a monthly, forum-based podcast focused on the events and happenings in the Mac community. This week’s hosts are: OWC Grant, OWC Chris S., and OWC Mike H.

  1. MacRat says:

Maybe for the next show the engineers can discuss ThunderBolt? (assuming there is no Intel NDA on OEMs of the technology)

How is it working in the lab? Is a TB hub possible? Limitations? Have the engineers tried TB networking yet? (just for us geeks) :-)

How are the component costs compared to OWC’s other offerings? There are rumors out now that it adds $100 more than firewire/USB solutions.

    • OWC Grant says:

Nothing to report yet MacRat…and yes…NDAs and even availability of the technology to developers both considerations.

Which is fine considering our SSDs have quite the spotlight on them! ;-)

  2. Ken H says:

Since it wasn’t discussed in this episode, is there any update on the 2011 iMac Turnkey Upgrade Program?

    • OWC Grant says:

Hey Ken! A listener of the OWC Radio show! Unfortunately no, with our focus on the Electra SSD…and some other cool things in the pipe…we haven’t fully developed this program out. But I’ll remind the team here so we bring it to the forefront. Thanks!

      • Ken H says:

Thanks. I’ve been anxiously waiting to see if it’s possible to get a 27″ i7 with 3TB HDD, eSata port and 6G SSD.
