Are You Prepared for a Zombie Attack?

The Center for Disease Control has found a new way to spread the word about being prepared for emergencies with a new graphic novella, about the mother of all emergencies – a zombie attack.

The novella, available for download on the CDC website, is a follow up to the CDC’s popular May 16 posting: “Preparedness 101: Zombie Preparedness”.

Dr. Ali Khan, director of the CDC Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response, distributed copies of the graphic novella at this year’s New York Comic Con in October. Dr. Khan was also on a Comic Con panel titled “Zombie Summit: How to Survive the Inevitable Zombie Apocalypse.”

The graphic novella’s purpose is to deliver an emergency preparedness message through the popular medium of graphic comics. As it turns out, zombie disasters require the same list of emergency supplies as flood, fire, and tornadoes.

The comic follows a young couple, Todd and Julie, as they watch TV news coverage of a strange virus, whose symptoms include: “slow movement, slurred speech and violent tendencies …” After a news report states that the CDC recommends that “families gather emergency supplies,” Todd goes to the CDC website and prints out an emergency list, including items such as “… water, food, flashlight, battery-powered or hand-crank radio, first aid kit, manual can opener and a multi-purpose tool.

Don’t have a multi-purpose tool in your home or office? The NewerTech 11-Piece Portable Toolkit would fit the bill. With the portability you’ll need for when it’s time to flee to the nearest empty shopping mall to wait out the attack, the NewerTech 11-Piece Portable Toolkit has all the tools you will need to keep your laptop, iPhone or iPad in running order (essential for receiving those vital government communiqués, such as zombie hot zones to avoid, how to tell if a loved one is turning into a zombie, and when the all clear is sounded.)

The NewerTech 11-Piece toolkit comes with two straight blade tools, two Phillips head tools, three Torx tools, a Scissor Clamp, Tweezers, and two Nylon Pry Tools (“Spudgers”), all in a rugged, zippered woven nylon carrying case—easy to grab when a quick exit is needed.

Remember – it pays to be prepared for a zombie apocalypse, and for all other emergencies.

Don’t forget the duct tape … and the NewerTech 11-Piece Portable Toolkit.
