Newer Technology Offers CES Attendees Free Device Charges Via Power2U AC/USB In-Wall Charging Solution

Newer Technology, Inc. (NewerTech) announced today that it will be showcasing Power2U at the Other World Computing (OWC) booth #5231 in the LVCC North Hall during the Consumer Electronics Show which begins Tuesday. Designed to enhance living and working spaces by eliminating the need for unsightly, bulky power adapters, Power2U is the industry’s first and only patented, home-safe, UL Listed dual AC socket/dual USB port in-wall charging solution. Visitors to the OWC booth will be able to experience the convenience of the Power2U firsthand by charging up one of their USB or AC powered devices.

Complements Any Decor

A leading developer of Macintosh, PC, iPod, iPhone, and iPad performance upgrades and accessories, Newer Technology designed the Power2U to seamlessly blend into any residential wall as a standard power outlet. Incorporating two traditional three-prong AC wall sockets in addition to two USB 3.0/2.0/1.1 ports, the Power2U is a basic ‘DIY’ install on any 15Amp circuit with a 16-cubic-inch electrical box.

Money Saving, Energy Efficient

The new outlet provides a clean looking, modern, centralized location for charging/powering USB devices. In addition to being convenient to use, the Power2U provides two energy efficiency features people will appreciate. The intelligent Smart Power design only outputs enough charging power to meet the requirements of the device that is attached. The specially designed spring-loaded Safety Shutters completely turn off power to the USB ports when a connecting cable is removed.

Power2U Features:

  • Patented design charges iPads, iPhones, iPods, Android tablets and phones, MP3 players, GPS, digital cameras, and other USB 3.0/2.0/1.1 chargeable devices without requiring a bulky adapter
  • Smart Power feature only outputs enough charging power required by the attached device
  • Energy efficient, spring-loaded Safety Shutter design turns power off to USB ports when connecting cable is removed
  • Uses standard four-pin type A jack USB cables
  • Installs on standard 15Amp electrical circuit with 16 cubic inch electrical box
  • The only UL/CUL Listed E339607 solution for in-wall, home-safe use in United States & Canada
  • Includes mounting screws white plastic covers, matching white wallplate, and illustrated step-by-step installation manual

We fully expect Power2U to be one of the biggest hits of CES,” said Grant Dahlke, Brand Manager, Newer Technology Inc. “Because USB charging is a universal standard on many devices, the appeal of this product to consumers, hardware retailers, homebuilders, and more is unlimited. By offering free device charges in OWC’s booth, CES attendees can experience firsthand the convenience and safety Power2U’s patented, UL Listed design offers.”

Unless your home has a whole house surge protection device, a rare and expensive option, sensitive electronic devices will be fried by surges that are common to residential electrical grids, especially areas of the country where lightning strikes are common.

      • Lars says:

According to the FAQ, the product has a fuse. Here is what it says:

Q: Is there a fuse inside of the Power2U?
A: Yes, there is an internal fuse to protect the system in case of overload or short in the USB charging system. The fuse is not user-replaceable—if activated, it is recommended to replace the entire Power2U unit.

Note: The internal fuse will burn out to protect the system (wall socket and device) if the end user makes the mistake of connecting to a power source requiring more than 125V
