“Tough as Jens Voigt”

Friday, January 20th, 2012 | Author: OWC Chris S.

As you may know, we like to keep a close eye on the Twitterverse (you can find us at @macsales) and, occasionally find OWC as a topic of discussion. Well, this morning, Twitter user @maddogmedia posted the comment

“I’ve been using OWC drives for years, externals and internals. They’re nearly as tough as Jens Voigt.”

Now, I’ll be the first to admit, I had no idea who Jens Voigt was. As far as I knew, he was Jon Voight’s uncle or something. A Google search later, though, I realized just how much of a compliment @maddogmedia was giving us.

For those of you who don’t follow that sort of thing, Jens Voigt is a professional cyclist. In the cycling world, he’s universally loved for his aggressive, never-give-up, but positive attitude. A pretty admirable trait, true, but how does that fit in with “toughness”?

Then, I kept reading and the more I read about him, the more he sounded like sounded like a real-life Chuck Norris meme:

And the stories continue on like this. Reading these tales really are a story in perseverance and, dare I say it, toughness.

So having our drives compared to Jens Voigt… Yeah… I’d say that’s a pretty darn nice thing to say.

Thanks @maddogmedia. #TFTL

Jens Voight is one of professional cycling’s toughest competitors and one of cycling’s nicest people, too. Much like
Other World Computing in both categories. IMHO. I’ll bet he burns more calories and sweats more every day he competes than you do but the relative effort expended is comparable since your results are, too. I’m a big fan of both….

Jens Voigt is tough but he doesn’t always get up:

That’s true (and… watching that clip – OUCH!!!!).

But, for what it’s worth, it still takes a lot to keep him down. And that’s kind of the point; he keeps going past the point where most people would have given up. Gotta admire that tenacity, at least.
