Other World Computing Named For Third Time to Crain’s Chicago Business “Fast Fifty” List Of Fastest Growing Companies

Wednesday, June 6th, 2012 | Author: OWC NewsFeed

Other World Computing has been named for a third time to the Crain’s Chicago Business “Fast Fifty” list of the fastest growing companies in the Chicago area, posting a 111 percent revenue growth rate over the past five years on the recently published 2012 listing. OWC, which first appeared on the Crain’s Fast Fifty list in 2009, and was also honored on the 2011 list, has also been recognized annually since 2008 on Crain’s list of Chicago’s Largest Privately Held Companies.

Crain’s began the qualification process in January by searching lists of public and private companies. To be eligible for consideration, companies had to be headquartered in the six-county Chicago metropolitan area (Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will) and had to have posted both revenue growth and a minimum of least $20 million revenue for 2011. Firms meeting those criteria, along with earning the highest five year revenue growth percentages, became the “Fast Fifty”. In 2011, OWC revenue reached $88.3 million, up 111 percent since 2006.

We are excited and honored to be included for a third time on Crain’s ‘Fast Fifty’ list of successful firms from the Chicago area,” said Larry O’Connor, Founder and CEO, Other World Computing. “We continue to listen to our customers and offer them the highest performance, highest quality products and back them with incomparable service and support, and this keeps OWC’s future very bright.”

I think your growth, success and rewards are all well-deserved. You guys have been particularly aggressive at providing outstanding customer service, but also at pushing brand new products out of the door. Honestly, this has been a surprising and refreshing evolution from a mac-selling product company to a creator/manufacturer. Quite a unique one from my own experience. Congratulations your innovative approach to the mac community! As an aside, I would love to learn the story (maybe as a blog?) relating to how you transformed your business into an R&D, creator and manufacturer of high-quality products for the mac. What spurted the decision, and what did you have to put in place: this would make a fantastic article!
