OWC ThunderBay 4 with Thunderbolt 2 Technology Available in up to 20TB

PR_Thunder_Bay4OWC expanded its Thunderbolt interface product line with the new ThunderBay 4 professional-grade, 4-bay enclosure with dual Thunderbolt 2 ports and RAID-ready capabilities, perfect for meeting the creative and demanding workflows of users.

Redefining High-Performance & Power in a 4-Bay Enclosure
OWC’s ThunderBay 4 offers incredible storage capacity, throughput, and data-redundancy to any Mac or PC with a Thunderbolt or Thunderbolt 2 port. Enhance any application, such as A/V post-production, music, graphics, data management and photography, including Time Machine backups by accessing information with sustained data rates up to 1,342 MB/s and capacities up to 20TB.

“Our new ThunderBay 4 is ideal for prosumers and A/V professionals who work with demanding applications and large mission-critical files,” said Jen Soulé, OWC President. “The combination of RAID-ready capabilities and Thunderbolt 2 technology makes working with large 2K and 4K files easier, faster, and more flexible and affordable than ever before. Now, users can get a performance improvement with data-redundancy all in a single durable 4-Bay enclosure.”

Flexible Storage & Backup Options – Bring Your Own Drives (BYOD Chassis)
The ThunderBay 4 supports independent drive access up to four installed drives and is fully RAID-ready. Utilize each of the four internal drives independently, or use the software RAID of your choice to set up a multi-drive array for high-performance storage and data-redundancy. Get the perfect BYOD solution with OWC’s unpopulated ThunderBay 4 enclosure kit and add up to four drives, SSDs, or a mixture of both hard drives and SSDs for customizable performance to meet specific storage and back up needs.

Versatile & Capable of Adapting to Any Workflow
Users considering migrating from a Mac Pro tower to the new Mac Pro 2013 need not give up the versatility of drive bays. Simply plug in the ThunderBay 4 to a Mac Pro and see four drives with Thunderbolt 2 interface running at full speed just as if installed internally. Users can get the power of the new Mac Pro with the drive capacity and versatility of previous generations – all with the extreme speed of Thunderbolt 2 technology. ThunderBay 4’s dual Thunderbolt 2 ports allow users to adapt to any workflow and add vast amounts of high-performance storage by daisy-chaining up to five additional devices, plus one high-resolution display, for up to 120TB of daisy-chained storage.

“The ThunderBay 4 is an amazing product that can meet the needs of the professional who needs high-performance storage, as well as anyone who is looking for a versatile method of storage and backup. One size can indeed fit all.” – Tom Nelson, About.com

Durable & Reliable While Remaining Cool
The ThunderBay 4 has an open “flow-thru” vented design, low-turbulence, noise-quieting fan, and a durable aluminum enclosure that not only protects the four internal drives but also keeps the drives running cool. In addition, the locking faceplate keeps the installed drives secured and safeguarded at all times. To help minimize sonic resonance and vibration, the ThunderBay 4 uses a drive-isolating design coupled with oversized, rugged, vibration-absorbing, non-skid feet.
