Apple Officially Sets Possible ‘iPhone 6’ and ‘iWatch’ Event for Sept. 9

9_9_14_event_big

Various leaks have pointed to a Sept. 9 date for Apple’s next major event, and now the company has made it official.

Apple sent silver and white media invitations today with the Apple logo and the “9.9.2014” date in large text followed simply by the cryptic statement of “Wish we could say more.”

Apple is rumored to be unveiling the larger next generation iPhone at the event, and possibly the long-rumored “iWatch.” The event will be at 1 p.m. Eastern time at the Flint Center for the Performing Arts in Cupertino, Calif.

If the company follows the blueprint of years past, it will begin selling the next iPhone a week after the event, along with the wide release of its next mobile operating system iOS 8.

Updated on 9/2: The headline on this post has been updated to reflect that Apple has not officially announced the iPhone 6. Thanks to Bruce Mc for the catch.

  • I have to be critical when I hear about this type of announcement form Apple. Here goes another hype, but some Appleheads live for it. Ther will be lines at the store and hours of waiting for something Samsung did years ago. Get a life or just get a Galaxy S3 the equivalent to the i6 except for the processor.

  • Apple announced an event on Sept 9. That is a fact. The iPhone 6 being released on Sept. 9 is not a fact, and even the existence of the iPhone 6 is not a fact. Your headline states a widely held opinion as a fact. You are putting words in Apple’s mouth that Apple did not say.

I have been using your products for years. Telling lies to get attention is a good way to get me to go somewhere else when I buy Mac accessories.

    • Wow! Thanks for reading the blog so closely and calling us on this one, Bruce. It’s so common out there (even in the mainstream media) that this is an iPhone event, we just naturally spoke of it that way. Thanks for the keen eye and we’ll update the post.
