OWC Confirms 32GB of RAM as Maximum for iMac with Retina 5K display

PR_5K_iMac_memLast week, OWC announced memory upgrade kits for the newly released iMac with Retina 5K display.

Now that we’ve had a chance to unbox, tear down and test the new iMac further, we have confirmed that 32GB is indeed the maximum amount of memory compatible with the Retina model.

Fortunately, OWC offers kits from 8GB to 32GB for the new model, so you can immediately upgrade your iMac with the maximum amount of RAM while saving big compared with factory upgrades. And for even more savings, iMac with Retina 5K display owners can trade-in the two factory base 4GB memory modules.

  • Seeing as 32GB is the hard limit for the Haswell CPU, please tell me how this even became a question.

  • Your article doesn’t specify HOW you confirmed the 32GB limit.

Do you actually have 16GB modules on hand and tried out 64GB? :-)
