Hot Read: Super Bowl XLIX Will be First Played Under LED Lights

Odds are, you know how you’ll be spending your Sunday evening (fine, we’ll give a hint: it’s Super Bowl Sunday). But what you might not know is that the 49th edition of the Super Bowl will be the first to be lit entirely by LED bulbs.

As tech website Gizmodo points out, the site of this year’s big game – The University of Phoenix Stadium – recently saw more than 780 fixtures upgraded with 44,928 energy-efficient LEDs.

And not only will the new lighting provide a more energy-efficient event (75 percent less power will be used for the lighting), it will also create a more life-like experience for the millions and millions of people watching on TV!
