Tips from the Rocket Yard: Fitting a 7mm Drive in an Older 2.5” Enclosure

If you have recently updated an older 2.5” enclosure with a 7mm drive, you might have noticed that the drive can seem a bit loose and potentially rattle during use.

While the drive will still power up and work exactly as it is intended to, there is a measure that can be taken to help with the light rattling that might be caused by enclosures built with 9.5mm drives in mind.

Check out OWC Chris R.’s Rocket Yard video guide to see how you can secure a 7mm drive in a 9.5mm enclosure with foam tape and make sure your drive has a snug fit. It should be noted that many enclosures include foam tape for accommodating a 7mm drive.
