PR_EnvoyProMiniOther World Computing announced today that it will feature at its NAB 2015 Booth #SL13905 in Las Vegas, April 13-16, the Envoy Pro mini, the stylish, aluminum, pocket-sized thumb drive with the amazing capability of a full-sized desktop-class SSD.

Winner of the 2015 Storage Visions Visionary Product Award, the OWC Envoy Pro mini is now available in 120GB and 240GB capacities (with 480GB coming soon). The new Envoy Pro mini is an indispensable workhorse that brings professional performance, high-capacity storage to life on the move. Unprecedented speed in such a small form-factor makes progress bars and data bottlenecks a thing of the past.

OWC’s new Envoy Pro mini features industry leading controller technologies to deliver outstanding performance and reliability. Aggressive data management keeps Envoy Pro mini working at maximum potential even when full. Hardware error correction yields superior data retention and drive health, and gold-standard compression and data distribution maximizes write performance and drive endurance.

The Envoy Pro mini achieves sustained transfer speeds up to 433MB/s, making it the perfect portable storage solution for demanding creative production workflows. For comparison, FireWire 800 transfers at approximately 84MB/s and USB 2.0 at 37MB/s.

“This isn’t your average thumb drive,” said Larry O’Connor, Founder and CEO, Other World Computing. “The pocket-sized Envoy Pro mini delivers full-sized, desktop-class SSD performance and doesn’t slow down with use like competing SSDs. And because it’s both lightweight and rugged, it’s the ultimate go-anywhere storage companion for anyone on the move.”

  • Could we have a picture or drawing of the Envoy Pro mini without the cord, and with and without the cap in the product page?

That is useful to generate an icon for it on the Mac Finder. Thanks.

  • Sounds great!

Is this drive suitable for installing an OS X system onto and booting from? A Linux Distro to boot from?

    • Hello Stephen,

This drive is suitable for installing an OS X system and it is bootable on any Mac that can boot from USB. The only requirements for the Mac is:
      -Mac OS 10.3 or later
-Having an available and supported USB 3.0 port.

With Linux, the only requirements are:
      -Linux OS versions
-An available and supported USB 3.0 port.

      • Besides being bootable, can it be used as a Mac-to-Go drive? I mean, to boot and work on it all day (much as what is certified by Microsoft as Windows To Go?

        • This unit is one of the fastest portable external SSD storage solutions available. You will be able to boot up and work on any compatible computer.
