  • I recently bought a OWC thunderbolt 2 dock for my iMac 27 inches (late 2012) running with OSX 10.11.1 (El Capitan).
This dock is not detected via thunderbolt ports.

I have a secondary monitor connected to one of my two tb ports via a cable thunderbolt/dvi cable and it works fine.
I tested my dock on another iMac 27 inches and my dock works fine.

I changed the thunderbolt cable: no change
    I reseted SMC: no change
    I reseted NVRAM: no change
I reinstalled El Capitan from scratch: no change

Had somebody an idea about my issue with this dock ?

    • Gillesdebda,
a similar thing happened to me. thought the dock was defective. sent it back to owc – they said it checked out fine, sent it back without any work done. bought a brand new thunderbolt cable. plugged it in – it worked! thought it was my bad. BUT now again the same thing is happening. UGH! i really need this thing to just WORK! (it’s wasting me precious time).
were you able to fix your problem? if so, how??

      • Hello Rich,

We are very sorry to hear that your dock is still not working properly. Please know that we will be reaching out to you for further assistance!

  • PLEASE — Tell OWC TB2 Dock owners to UNPLUG any iOS devices they’ve connected to the 2 “charging” ports on the OWC TB2 Dock BEFORE installing the update!!!
Penalty for not doing so: Installation hangs at about 85%, refuses any “Force Quit” instructions and prevents Mac from even being shutdown or restarted.
Oh, and for what it’s worth, my OWC Thunderbolt 2 Dock now actually charges my iPad while the Mac is running, as it was advertised it would do.

    • Thank you so much for your post about the OWC Thunderbolt 2 Dock. At this time we have not had any other reports or errors in testing this driver update with iOS devices plugged into the OWC Thunderbolt 2 Dock. System software and driver updates when run will not affect the extra devices attached to the system as it doesn’t apply. However, this update driver will still look through everything that’s connected to see if it applies or not. It is possible that an error interrupted the update from completing. Thank you so much for reporting and OWC will be keeping an eye on this. If you ever have any questions please feel free to contact us.

  • I have two OWC TB2 docks. I installed the OWC TB2 dock update on both my docks and it fixed my Apple SuperDrive connection problems. Nicely done. Thanks OWC for fixing that.
