Contrary to popular belief, we at OWC do a lot more than just sit in front of our computers and come up with interesting products. Well… at least most of us do…
Every year, OWC fields a number of sports teams in the local leagues. The OWC Men’s Basketball team pictured at right, as well as softball, volleyball, and other OWC teams, all give our staff members the option to participate as part of the OWC Health and Wellness incentive program.
Not only do these teams encourage the health and fitness of employees, it also builds camaraderie amongst the employees and allows us to participate within the community. And when you consider that same will to excel that made OWC About.com’s 2012 Reader’s Choice for “Best Mac Peripheral Reseller” gets applied to the court instead… well… the results are pretty darn amazing.

April’s Garage Sale Offers Titanic Deals – Without the Iceberg
It’s the middle of the month of April, and you know what that means. No, not that every “light” radio station and canned music service has that awful Celine Dion song seemingly stuck on endless repeat (though that does seem to be the case); it means it’s time for April’s garage sale.
This month we’re making a “splash” with a bunch of great deals you can “sink” your teeth into without having to pawn that improbably large diamond you’ve been hiding all these years.
Here’s just a few of the great deals this month.
- iMacs starting at $649
- A Variety of FireWire, USB 3.0/2.0 Cards for PCIe, PCI, and Express34 – $15 and up
- Big Memory Selection – 1GB from $3.25, 2GB $9, 4GB $16.50, to 16GB $95
- Drive Enclosure options starting from $7.99
- Over 20 different 3.5” drives up to 3.0TB from $39.00; 1TB from $85
- …and much more!
As always, it’s “first-come, first served,” so grab these great deals while you can; quantities are limited to that which is on hand and items automatically count down and will disappear as they’re sold out. Sorry… no rain checks.
To make sure you get the first notice for these and other specials, make sure you subscribe to our Tips & Deals Newsletter and Hot Deals blasts. They’re free to join and, unlike some other places, we don’t sell our subscriber lists to anybody.

OWC Announces Mercury Accelsior as Industry’s First Fully Macintosh and PC Supported Bootable PCIe SSD Card
Other World Computing today introduced the OWC Mercury Accelsior, the industry’s first both Mac-bootable and PC-bootable, fully supported PCIe SSD card. By utilizing the fastest data interface available in a Mac Pro or PC—the PCIe slot—the Mercury Accelsior offers nearly 3x the performance vs. an SSD in a SATA 2.0 3Gb/s drive bay with well beyond even 6Gb/s speeds of up to 780MB/s. Now owners of PCs and Apple Mac Pros can stop waiting for I/O-intensive apps like Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, or Avid Pro Tools to render, capture or process; and can experience near instantaneous booting and application launches. The Mercury Accelsior will be highlighted along with other OWC storage solutions in booth #SL14110 during the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) show being held this week in Las Vegas.
Fully Bootable, No Drivers Needed
The OWC Mercury Accelsior PCIe SSD card is AHCI compliant, so no drivers are required for a truly Plug and Play solution. Besides turning a computer into a speed demon, this high-performance SSD is bootable on PCs and is the only Mac-bootable, Mac supported PCIe SSD available. Article Continues…
