OWC looks forward to “Customer Service Week” 2011!

Monday, October 3rd, 2011 | Author: OWC Robert

If you recall, last year we introduced our readers to Customer Service Week.

This year, Other World Computing, Inc. plans to celebrate once again!
Our theme this year is “Commitment you can count on.”

As always, we are planning an exciting week of recognition and celebration for our entire staff.

  • Breakfast will be served for all on Monday and will include bagels, cookies, danishes, muffins and juice.
  • A surprise treat will be handed out on Tuesday.
  • On another day, donuts and cupcakes for all!
  • The customer service team will be provided with opportunities for representatives to win fabulous prizes by playing poker during the week. A card is received for each good deed or above and beyond moment. Best hands win!
  • Additionally, a trivia day will also allow the team to win fun stuff.

At OWC, we believe that our customers and the way that we support them differentiates us from the competition. We are proud to say that customer satisfaction, support and care are pivotal to our success. So, in that respect, everyone at OWC works in some form of “customer service:” from the staff on the phones, emails, and live chats who help with orders and support; to the folks in our warehouse who make sure the product is built and shipped in a timely fashion; to the Development and Marketing teams who help create and promote the products people want; all the way to the leadership and example set by Larry, our founder and CEO, who places the customer at the top of our organization chart.

So, in closing, when calling, e-mailing, or live-chatting from October 3 through October 7, please don’t forget to wish your OWC representative a happy Customer Service Week. We’re doing it for you!

Loaded with Stuff!

Tuesday, December 28th, 2010 | Author: OWC Robert

It has been over 6 months since I last told you about my Lola and I feel that It is my duty to share some of her newest experiences with you. Time just flies when you are having fun and let me tell you, Lola has had some fun.

She has been driving pretty fast as of recently! You could even say Jimmie Johnson fast when using an OWC Mercury Extreme Pro RE SSD drive. Only the fastest and most reliable Solid State Drive on the market today will suffice for Lola’s data storage and backup needs.

At this point, I must say that Lola is pretty spoiled. She has taken over my credit cards. I am sure that some of you can relate. Lola is loaded with so much stuff that she now has her own section in my home.

She recently demanded that I take better care of her. Always dragging her to and from work and anywhere else she demands.

So, as always I quickly shopped and purchased the Case Logic Laptop Sleeve. It has everything that a MacBook Pro like Lola would want and need. Form fitted, suede, zippers, durability and a slimline design. Even a 25 year warranty. 25 years! I mean, really!?!

Of course, It did not stop there.

Lola wanted more protection from all of the bumps and bruises of travel. I continued to shop and got her the Matias Laptop Armor. It is stylish, rugged and has a silver aluminum slim design.

There is that word “slim” again. Lola just loves slim.

OWC Celebrates “Customer Service Week”!

Monday, October 4th, 2010 | Author: OWC Robert

Did you know that there is such an event as “Customer Service Week”?

You may ask, Robert, what is “Customer Service Week” and what is it all about?

Well then, since you asked, “Customer Service Week” is a national event that is dedicated to recognizing the importance of customer service and to honor the people who serve and support customers with the highest degree of professionalism and care.

In 1992 our U.S. Congress proclaimed “Customer Service Week” a nationally recognized event, celebrated annually around the globe during the first full week in October.

It is a time of the year when businesses all around the world have the chance to learn and convey the meaning of customer appreciation and just how valuable communication is.

While many people have never even heard of “Customer Service Week”, others are quite adamant about getting into the spirit of it and doing everything they can to change their work environment is a positive way.

There are no specific activities or things that businesses are supposed to do, so most companies get creative and come up with their own ideas. Article Continues…

Lola the Mac had a Mouse Attack!

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010 | Author: OWC Robert

When we spoke last “Lola” was all shiny like brand new.

Keeping Lola clean has been a breeze although now she is getting quite demanding.

For Mothers day she demanded a mouse! A mighty mouse at that!

Now, I love pets just as much as the next guy, but a mouse?
I procrastinated and pushed back as best I could.
Hey, times are tough.

So, at the last minute I quickly shopped and purchased the Macally Optimo Portable 2.4GHz Wireless Optical Mouse for Macs & PC’s.

How convenient!
It has 3 Buttons, with a scroll wheel!
Easy as pie because it costs just $27.99.
As luck would have it, same day shipping was available.

While shopping for my Lola, I also found the Newer Technology NuPad Forever 6″ x 9″ Aluminum mouse pad!

Sharp, REAL sharp.
This mouse pad is made in the good old USA from precision laser cut, aircraft-grade aluminum.
Hurrah!
It also has a lifetime warranty and only set me back another $24.95.

Lola was impressed and surprised.
She loves her new mouse pad and mouse so much that they rarely if ever spend anytime away from each other.
Success!

My Mac named Lola was a dirty Mac!

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010 | Author: OWC Robert

Two months ago I first mentioned my relationship with “Lola”.

So much has happened since January. So, where do I begin?

Well, I was so excited about my new relationship with Lola that I thought I would take it to the next step and start to introduce her to others. My friend Henry stopped by one day and I took it upon myself to introduce him to Lola.

Henry quickly pulled me aside and said “wow, dude”, that Mac is dirty.

No way! I take remarks like those very seriously.
I looked closely and he was right.
Lola was dirty!

So, I quickly shopped and purchased the Klear Screen Deluxe Cleaning Kit. Just $23.99 and as always, same day shipping was available.

I quickly cleaned and shined Lola up real nice!
This kit was great because it came with an 8 ounce spray bottle, a large micro chamois, 6 Klear Kloths, 2 travel single cleaning packets and a travel chamois. Now I could keep Lola clean anywhere I go! I could even use this kit to shine up my LCD TV and my cell phone.

Lola is also much happier now. She is shiny like brand new. I thought I would get her a gift because she looked so dang pretty.

What you may ask, what did you get her Robert?
Tune in next month to find out what kind of Armor I got for her.

A Mac Named Lola

Thursday, January 14th, 2010 | Author: OWC Robert

lolaOne of my motto’s is, “just ask and you shall receive!” I suppose as OWC’s Call Center Manager, that is a pretty good mindset to have for good customer relations.

It also came in handy while contemplating a recent tech purchase.

Now, let me advise you in advance that I do not consider myself a computer or tech geek at all. But, I do believe I am catching the bug… if bugs around computer gear can be a good thing. Recently, I got my hands on a 17 inch Macbook Pro.

As an average user and mostly a desktop oriented one, I find this machine incredibly handy and awesome… and that cool light up Apple logo on the cover just sweetens the deal. Kinda makes me look like I’m part of the technorati.

Anyways, our relationship started out slowly. I met “her” on my first day in my role here. And I soon realized that I could not be without her. Her name is Lola. Yes, I named my Macbook Pro.

Lola did not have much use for me when I took her home for the first time. I could not get her to connect wirelessly to the Internet while at home. So I asked myself, “what do you do when you have relationship issues such as this?”

You ask others for advice! Just ask and you shall receive! See how this is coming full circle?

I started to tell others of my dilemma. And when you tell other OWC’ers about a tech situation, do the suggestions start pouring in! “You need a wireless router… just get Lola a router and your relationship will grow.” Plus, I got all sorts of options on where I could get it, how much I should spend, even that I could barter something I have for one.

You know what generally happens – at least to me anyways – when others give you advice? You listen, but you know deep down that you are just going to do what feels “right” to you.

In this case, what felt right was shopping at our own store because as a new employee, I heard we stood behind our products, we only sold high quality products, and hey, what better way to put my new employer to the test so to speak. Peace of mind and support – what I like to now call the “OWC Worry Free Guarantee” was much more important to me than saving $10.00.

So I shopped, searched, and found the Nfiniti™ Wireless-N Router. Just $62.99 and same day shipping was available… so I knew I’d be bringing Lola a sweet treat that night.

My choice of routers was ideal as it is best suited for the home and small office environment. It now allows Lola to stream multimedia content, such as HD movies or music, download images or send and receive e-mail… an espeically handy feature when trying to catch up with emails from home. With speeds of up to 300Mbps, the Buffalo Nfiniti Wireless Router and Access Point is also ideal to upgrade an existing wireless network, as it provides greater speed and coverage than Wireless-G. Geez, I’m starting to talk tech now!

What’s next for Lola and myself? I believe Lola now needs to stop sleeping after four hours of use. So an Apple Genuine Magsafe 85W AC Power Adapter/Charger for $49.99 should do just fine to resolve that issue.

I look forward to a long lasting and satisfying relationship with Lola and OWC and promise to update you all occasionally on both those topics.
