An Award-Winning Presence At Macworld 2011

Monday, January 31st, 2011 | Author: OWC Chris S.

Well, another Macworld Expo has come and gone. While Apple isn’t a live presence any more, OWC has taken up the hardware torch and managed to keep things hopping with our new OWC Mercury Aura Pro solid state drives.

When it comes to upgrading your 2008-2010 MacBook Air, the only upgrade avenue you have is to replace the internal drive with something faster. OWC’s Mercury Aura Pro line of SSDs allows you to upgrade your MacBook Air’s internal drive to a super-fast, Sandforce-based SSD, which provides not only a tremendous speed boost, but also offers consistent performance over time due to the wear-leveling technology in all OWC SSDs.

But enough about the Auras themselves; we’ve had plenty to say about them already. It’s time to talk about all the love the Mac media community has given us.

Let’s start off with the big guns – the “Best of Show” awards. The OWC Mercury Aura Pro Express for 2010 MacBook Air won three of these prestigious honors:

  • One from Macworld magazine, host of the Expo, themselves.
  • One was in the form of a 2011 Mac|Life award from the magazine of the same name, who “can’t wait to get our hands on these babies.”
  • The last was from Notebooks.com, who gave us their “Best Mac Hardware Upgrade” title and  noted that “the blazing fast data transfer rates and higher capacity make the MacBook Air even better.”

And that was just the tip of the iceberg. Article Continues…

OWC is Takin’ It to the Streets

Wednesday, January 26th, 2011 | Author: OWC Chris S.

No, we haven’t suddenly become fans of The Doobie Brothers circa 1976. We’re actually rolling up our sleeves, getting out there and interfacing with you, our customers, both locally and on a larger scale.

Locally, we’ll have a representative at the February 12th meeting of The NorthWest of Us Mac Users Group. TNWoU and OWC have had a long-time relationship, and we’re always glad to help out a neighbor.

It’ll be a two-part session. The first part will cover basic upgrades to improve the performance of your Mac, such as upgrading to a faster/larger hard drive and adding more memory. The speed benefits of adding an SSD will also be discussed.

The second part will address methods of data protection. These will include single drives for simple backup, RAID setups for added protection against hardware failure, and network solutions to provide secure backup and allow file sharing for all computers in your house/business.

Check out The NorthWest of Us Web site for more information.

On the more immediate end of things, if you happen to be in the San Francisco are this week, you can catch some of the OWC crew at Macworld Expo 2011. They’ll be showing off all our latest and greatest accessories for your Mac, including the new line of SSDs that we debuted earlier in the month.

If you haven’t picked up your tickets to the expo floor yet, you’re in luck. While the  discount for the conferences has passed, those of you who just want to go to the exhibits (which is where the OWC booth is located) can take advantage of an exclusive OWC offer – free Exhibit-only Admission is available through the show. All you need to do is pop on over to our Web site and register. Once you do, come see the OWC crew at Booth #513.

Tell ‘em OWC Chris sent you.
