OWC Announces Memory Upgrade Kits For New 2013 21.5″ Apple iMac Core i3 Education Model

Tuesday, March 12th, 2013 | Author: OWC NewsFeed

Other World Computing announced today the immediate availability of the OWC Memory Upgrade DIY Kit for 2013 21.5″ Apple iMac Core i3 Education models introduced last week. Offering up to 4x the RAM — 16GB — versus the factory base configuration of 4GB, the OWC Memory Upgrade DIY Kits come complete with an iMac opening tool, suction cups for safe screen removal, 11-piece toolkit, foam adhesive for proper glass and display resealing, and microfiber screen cloth. Both an 8GB and 16GB complete kit, as well as no tools, memory modules only kits, are supported by a ‘how-to’ video and OWC Lifetime warranty.

Savings Over $140 Compared To Factory Upgrade

When compared to the same-sized factory maximum memory option of 16GB, the $149.99 OWC Memory Upgrade DIY Kit offers 44 percent savings compared to the factory cost of $270. For even more savings, memory modules only (no tools) kits can be selected as well as the two factory base 2GB memory modules can be traded-in to OWC for a cash-back rebate. Article Continues…

Other World Computing Expands Industry’s Only SSD Upgrade Solution for Apple MacBook Pro with Retina Display Computers

Tuesday, February 5th, 2013 | Author: OWC NewsFeed

Other World Computing announced today its OWC Aura Pro, the industry’s only high-performance Solid State Drive upgrade for all 13″ and 15″ MacBook Pro with Retina display (rMBP) computers, is now available in a 240GB capacity that offers up to 2x the capacity of the factory base SSD found in the 13″ rMBP model.

A Better Upgrade Value Than Factory Option

The 13″ rMBP comes standard with a 128GB SSD and it costs $300 to upgrade at the factory to a 256GB SSD. However, when upgrading directly with the factory, consumers have paid for that base 128GB module, but do not get that original base flash module returned to them for re-use.

The OWC Aura Pro SSD and Envoy Pro enclosure bundle comes complete with installation tools, installation video, and offers comparable cost and capacity — $319.99 and 240GB (256GB SSD before 7% over-provisioning) — to the factory 256GB upgrade option, but with the added value of being able to use the factory base SSD module as an external storage device via the Envoy Pro. OWC Announces Memory Upgrades From 8GB to 32GB For 2012 27″ Apple iMac

Friday, December 21st, 2012 | Author: OWC NewsFeed

Other World Computing announced today the immediate availability of the OWC Memory Upgrade Kits from 8GB to 32GB for 2012 27″ iMac models that began shipping recently. OWC’s kits offer memory configurations not offered by the factory as well as savings up to over $400 compared to same size factory options. Like all OWC Memory Upgrade Kits, a ‘how-to’ install video and OWC Lifetime warranty are included.

One of Easiest to Upgrade Macs Ever Produced

Unlike the 2012 iMac’s complex install process which requires removing the screen with a custom upgrade kit developed and offered only by OWC, the 2012 27″ iMac has been hailed as one of the easiest to upgrade Macs ever produced. A memory access panel on the rear of the 27″ machine ejects via a simple push button located above the power input. Adding more memory is a simple, several minute process of installing new modules into the memory slots and reinstalling the access panel. Therefore, Mac performance experts recommend selecting the least amount of factory installed RAM when ordering a 2012 27″ iMac. Article Continues…
