We’ve all been there. One second, you and your iPhone are blissfully skipping through a field of flowers—you’re texting, watching YouTube videos, updating your status to “feeling exhausted” on Facebook for the third day in a row—and just like that, your moment comes to a screeching halt.
You feel your perfect, beloved iPhone slip from your fingers and barrel in slow motion toward the ground. You fumble, karate chop, try anything to save your phone—but too often, it’s too late. Article Continues…

It’s been an exciting September for Apple fans with the announcement of the new iPhone 5 models and iOS 7. I won’t steal OWC Michael’s thunder and rehash the details of all of the new features on the iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C and iOS 7, but you can check them out on our recap post from Tuesday’s special event.
But look around at the various Apple or tech-related message boards and blogs, and you’ll likely see backlash aimed at the latest iPhone iterations. Many people seem to think that they’re just the same old iPhone. That the new models don’t justify an upgrade, even with an expired contract.
While my contract still has a year (or as most would call it – an eternity) before it expires, I’ve made a decision: I am going to upgrade early from the iPhone 5 to the iPhone 5S. Article Continues…
Well, the moment you’ve been waiting for since WWDC is here: iOS 7 is now available for download!
But before you upgrade your iDevice, make sure it’ll work on your model; nothing will put the brakes on iOS-Mania faster than finding out it won’t work for you.
iOS 7 is compatible with the following:
- iPhone 4 and later
- iPad 2 and later, including the iPad mini
- 5th Generation iPod touch.
If your device is listed above, you’re ready to upgrade! If your device skews to the “older” end of this spectrum, however, you should keep in mind that some features (like newer camera options and Siri) may not be available.
To upgrade, first upgrade iTunes to the latest version vis Software Update. Then, simply connect your iDevice to your computer, open iTunes, make a backup of your data, and then go ahead and click that Upgrade button.
And, while you’re waiting to upgrade your software with the latest and greatest, why not do the same for your hardware and check out the Newer Technology NuGuard KX case.
Sometimes things in life can be shocking. Like when you see a 24-year-old girl dating a 64-year-old man. Or the time that bird chirped something that sounded scarily like your name (you know you’re not crazy; you heard what you heard). And just how Nutella manages to be so good every time. Sometimes you can be shocked in a good way—like when you think your family has forgotten your birthday only to find out that they surprised you with the Chuck E. Cheese party you’ve always wanted (you’re never too old for arcade games). But sometimes things can be shocking in a bad way—like when you find out someone has stolen your credit card and used it to buy a lifetime supply of popsicles (out of all the things, why??). Another bad type of shock is electrical shock, which is a relevant topic as of late.
There have been two recent incidents of people getting shocked in China involving the iPhone. Last week, a Chinese man was left in a coma after being shocked while charging his iPhone 4. This follows another recent incident where a Chinese woman was killed by electrical shock when she answered her iPhone 5 while it was charging. In both cases, the individuals were using an unauthorized third-party adapter to charge their devices.
In response to these incidents, Apple has Article Continues…
As we approach the back to school season, the iPhone rumors are in full force. This image, provided to OWC by an unnamed source, is purported to be of the upcoming, lower cost, iPhone 5S or iPhone lite
As to whether this is the absolute real deal or not, we really cannot say – but there is one thing we can say for certain:
We have great NuGuard KX cases
for the current iPhone 4/4s and 5 and you can rest assured that we’ll have cases with that same mil-spec protection and slim design to whatever iPhone lineup Apple releases next.
