Win a 240GB Mercury Electra 6G SSD

Thursday, December 1st, 2011 | Author: OWC NewsFeed

Everybody loves a chance to win something; if they didn’t, Wheel of Fortune would be little more than a spelling test followed by a look through a Sears catalog. Once you add prizes, though, things get much more interesting – and that’s where the folks at TweakTown come in.

You see, they’re giving away one a 240GB Mercury Electra 6G Solid State Drive to one lucky winner, and two other winners will get a Newer Technology GripStand/GripBase Bundle for iPad and another bundle for iPad 2 owners. Of course, with such great prizes at stake, there are a few minor things you’ll have to do to enter:

  1. Become a fan of OWC’s Facebook page (i.e., “Like” us).
  2. Post “I want to win some OWC goodies at TweakTown thanks to Other World Computing!” on the contest thread.
  3. Report that you’ve performed the first two steps by posting on the forum page on TweakTown’s site.

Pretty simple, huh?

Contest entry runs from today until December 10, 2011. If you are a winner, you will be asked to provide your full name, address and telephone number for shipping.

Check out TweakTown’s contest page for full details.

Last Chance to Vote for OWC

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011 | Author: OWC Chris S.

Well, we’re in the final stretch for this year’s “Visit Me at CES” video contest. Voting ends today, so if you’re waiting until the last minute to vote for us, you’d better act now! And for those who have already voted for us – you can go ahead and vote for us again!

All you need to do is:

  1. Go to the CES video contest page.
  2. Find OWC’s video – videos are apparently listed randomly, so you need to search for “CES: The Countdown” titled video.
  3. Click the Vote button by our video (you may have to register and/or log in first).
  4. Click the Vote button nine more times.

Contrary to our original post a couple of weeks ago it seems you can vote up to ten times per day, so with this being the last day, that’s ten more votes you can give us.

It’s Time To Vote Again…

Thursday, November 10th, 2011 | Author: OWC Chris S.

About this time last year, we asked you to vote for our submission in the “Meet Me at CES” video contest. Well, it’s that time again, and though the name has changed slightly (now it’s “Visit Me at CES”) the premise is the same: We need your votes.

Fortunately, helping us out is really easy to do:

  1. Go to the CES video contest page.
  2. Find OWC’s video – they appear to be listed randomly, so you may have to search a little.
  3. Click the vote button (you may have to register and/or log in first).

You can vote once a day, so – in the grand tradition of Illinois Politics - vote early and vote often. With your help, OWC will be featured on the front page of the CES web page for the month leading up to the expo.

Oh, and since the embedded video on the contest page is quite small, here’s a larger version for you to enjoy. Article Continues…

Make sure your data is safe for World Backup Day!

Thursday, March 31st, 2011 | Author: OWC Chris S.

It’s probably pretty safe to say that we here at OWC are pretty enthusiastic about backing up. Nothing can wreak more havoc on your stress levels than discovering that your irreplaceable data has disappeared forever due to a hardware or software failure. While the adage “There are two kinds of people with hard drives: those who have had a failure and those who will,” still rings true, the trick is to be prepared and that’s something we’ve promoted heavily over the years.

That’s why we were surprised when we heard about World Backup Day; we’re not above celebrating somewhat off-beat “holidays” here at OWC, but this event promoting something we wholeheartedly believe in somehow escaped our attention.

Well, we are no longer remiss observing this movement, and we’re not the only ones. The folks over at The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW) are holding a contest today, March 31, in observance of World Backup Day and we’re helping out by furnishing a couple of NewerTech StoraDrive cases, a couple of Voyager S3 drive docks and a 1.0TB Mercury Elite-AL Pro Storage Solution as prizes. After all, if you’re going to back up, you better have the gear needed for such a purpose.

So head on over to TUAW and enter the contest…that link and the first giveaway is scheduled to go live between 11:00-11:30AM ET. We hope you win. But even if you don’t, though, you can’t lose by celebrating World Backup Day – today and every day!

Win a 40GB OWC Mercury Extreme Pro SSD!

Wednesday, January 19th, 2011 | Author: OWC Chris S.

We’ve gone on and on about how our SandForce processor based OWC Mercury Extreme™ Pro SSDs have seem to be universally held in high regard by reviewers, including the likes of the folks over at The SSD Review who, as you may guess by the name, specialize in SSD performance.

In fact, they loved our OWC Mercury Extreme Pro SSD so much that they’ve decided to offer one up as the grand prize in a giveaway they’re holding. Entry into the contest is free, but there are a few caveats (you knew there was going to be some…) that you’ll have to keep mind of:

  1. You need to be a member of The SSD Review site.
  2. In order to be eligible for the drawing, one must register on The SSD Review and become an active member in the forum community between now and February 15, 2011.
  3. Members will not be eligible if they haven’t posted to the site previously or at least once within the contest eligibility period.
  4. To win the contest, the selected site member must correctly answer a skill testing question only when informed that he/she has won and the question is presented in an e-mail.

That’s not too bad, right? Head over to The SSD Review, register, and start contributing your SSD knowledge, and you’ll be eligible to win.

Of course, if you don’t wind up being the lucky winner, you’ll still be able to buy your own right here at OWC!
