First Trailer For Kutcher’s ‘Jobs’ Released

Friday, June 21st, 2013 | Author:

Back in April, humor website Funny or Die released a satirical Steve Jobs biopic in a mad dash to beat two other more serious films that were already in production to the punch. In fact, they were in such a hurry that there wasn’t much time for story, accuracy or, you know, good jokes.

Now that we’ve had time to hate reflect on the warm-up act, we get our first extended look at the first of the two “legitimate” movies about the former Apple CEO with the trailer for Jobs starring Ashton Kutcher. Jobs actually premiered earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival and was originally slated for a wide release in April but was pushed back to its current Aug. 16 release date for unknown reasons. A third Steve Jobs movie – based on the official adaptation of Jobs’ authorized biography by Walter Isaacson – is currently in development by writer Aaron Sorkin.

Judge for yourself, but Kutcher definitely looks the part … until he opens his mouth, that is. But we’ll reserve full judgment until the movie is released.

What are your impressions of the trailer? Sound off and let us know what you think in the comments section.

iSteve Review: Only Fans Need Apply

Thursday, April 18th, 2013 | Author:

After an appropriate two-day delay from its planned April 15 release out of respect for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing, Funny or Die’s first full length movie iSteve has finally been bestowed upon us.

Well, maybe “finally” is the wrong word to use. That would imply there was a significant wait involved. There wasn’t. In fact, the whole point of this movie was to rush to be the first Steve Jobs biopic released and not keep us waiting for the two other Jobs films in the works.

Announced in March, iSteve reportedly was written in three days and filmed in just five to ensure it would be the first to be released. But none of that matters if the movie isn’t funny. So is it? Well, let’s just say Funny or Die could learn a lesson from Apple: being first to market doesn’t make you best. Article Continues…

Funny Or Die’s ‘iSteve’ Trailer Released

Tuesday, April 2nd, 2013 | Author:

When it comes to technology, it’s certainly helpful to be the best in your field. But sometimes, its even better to be first.

This theory apparently applies to the entertainment business as well. Humor site Funny or Die has just released the teaser trailer for its upcoming Steve Jobs satirical biopic “iSteve”. As made very clear in the movie’s tagline near the end of the trailer, this will be the first biopic of the former Apple CEO released. Two other more serious Jobs-centric movies are either currently in production or completed and awaiting release. (This is of course not counting the made-for-TV-movie “Pirates of Silicon Valley” that documents the rivalry between Apple Computer and Microsoft.)

Here are a few interesting facts about the production “iSteve”:

  • Actor Justin Long, who you probably remember from the famous “Get a Mac” campaign, will play the role of Jobs.
  • “iSteve” was written in just three days and filmed in five.
  • The movie will reportedly be between 60 and 75 minutes and will cover Jobs’ entire life.

So what are your thoughts on the movie? With its humorous tone, do you think it’s out of bounds or in poor taste? Is Justin Long being disrespectful to the man and company who helped give his profile a major boost? Sound off, and let us know what you think in the comments section.

“iSteve” is set for an April 15 online release exclusively at Funny or Die.
