Brace Yourself For Tons Of Candy

After OWC Becky, OWC Kevin, and others in the office have practically begged me to review Candy Crush Saga, I have finally done so. However, brace for impact, this isn’t going to be pretty.

I’m going to start this review by saying I don’t like gambling, I don’t enjoy games of chance. If I’m going to pour hours of time into a game (the game currently has 305 levels) I expect some reasonable level of confidence in knowing that I have a chance to beat the level I’m on when I start. This is where my problem lies in C.C.S., if the random algorithms, decide to not give me what I need, I lose.  You can be the best puzzle game player on earth, or Other Worlds, and will fail. Time To Put On your Clever Caps And Do Battle In This Strategic TCG

Get your trading card game fix in this award-winning cross-platform wonder, for Mac OS X,  iOS, Android, and PC from Wulven Studios!

When it comes to visually stunning titles Shadow Era is up there in the charts, with bold graphic styles, and a wonderful interface, making this trading card game, (which typically translates poorly to handheld devices) an absolute joy to play.

When first starting the game, you must choose a hero to represent you and your deck. Hero’s are broken down into 2 factions, Human and Shadow, and each Hero also has a class.  This decides what kind of cards you can place into your deck. For example, if selecting a Human Mage Hero, I can use Human cards and Mage cards but not Rogue or Shadow.

Explore your local Dungeon with Parallel Kingdom

Gather your swords and axes friends, in this App review we are taking a look at Parallel Kingdom for iOS!

This app is a wonderful take on the MMORPG Genre, combining exploration, community, and… your real-world physical location. Parallel Kingdom uses your Current GPS location, in combination with Google Map Data, to create your surroundings. I’ve been playing this game for 6 months and have recently claimed the land our OWC Headquarters sits on in Woodstock, Illinois.

What this game lacks in plot, it makes up for with its raw exploration and gameplay. After clearing out the area of monsters and collecting some gold and “Pages” (which you need to max out to level up). I decided to wander around and see what else the land around our building had to offer. Article Continues…

Review – Mercury EXTREME Pro 6G SSD in MacBook Pro

There are very compelling reasons to upgrade your current MacBook Pro. While my MacBook Pro is still a 2011 model with 8GB of RAM, I always felt that it could be a bit faster. Even with the 7200RPM Toshiba drive fitted, IO operations felt sluggish (even more so after installing the OWC) and I wanted to see if a SSD would make a big difference.

The 30-day return promise from OWC made the choice of the Mercury EXTREME Pro 6G SSD 480 GB drive an easy choice. When it comes to SSD options, not many companies provide reasonable pricing like OWC, let alone a 5 year warranty on their products – pricing is steep at USD 1,000.00 but the results are overwhelming and worth it.

My MacBook Pro supports 6Gb/s SATA out of the box, and although the System Profiler does not show TRIM support, this is not an issue, as the OWC SSDs have TRIM support built-in.

iOS App Review – Friendly for FaceBook

It’s been quite a while since we’ve had an iOS app review for you, but with all the exciting goings-on here at OWC, it’s been kind of tough to get the crew together so we could all contribute. At the same time, we all had fun doing this, and wanted it to continue.

As a result, we’re going to try and resurrect this feature, just with a slightly different format: only one of us is going to review an app at any given time, and the apps themselves won’t necessarily have to be free (though, ultimately, that’s still our goal). Of course, we’ll be counting on you, valued readers, to chime in on these apps, too. After all, more feedback eventually leads to better apps overall. :-D
