Newer Technology Announces GripStand Station for Centralized Storage, Charging, and Syncing of Up to Eight Apple iPads

Newer Technology, Inc. today announced the GripStand Station, the Plug and Play storage, charging and syncing solution for technologically savvy classroom, office, retail, healthcare, and other multiple iPad user environments. Designed specifically for use with NuGuard GripStand 2 and GripStand protective iPad cases (sold separately), the GripStand Station allows iPad tablets to slide easily and securely into one of eight bays to store, charge and sync. The new, made in the USA GripStand Station and other unique Newer Technology products will be demonstrated in Other World Computing’s booth #5231, LVCC North Hall, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which begins tomorrow in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Easy to Use for All Ages

iPad users of all ages will find GripStand Station easy to use. Simply slide a NuGuard GripStand protected iPad into one of the eight bays until it connects to the installed Apple Certified Dock Connector. Embedded cable channels on the back of the unit cleanly route the USB charging cables to protect them from bending, pinching or accidental removal and/or tangling. Product News & Reviews You Can Use

OWCNewsGrantTalk about a rhyming headline! While I hope I have more talent than a certain flavor of Vanilla, I don’t think I can top this character. But to the point, we’ve had a busy last few days here transforming Cyber Monday into a full Cyber Week because of popular demand.

As a result, we haven’t really had the opportunity to get back to the tech tips and product reviews that you, our faithful readers, have come to expect at the OWC Blog. But much like the myriad of fan movies and fan fiction that sprout up when the original isn’t producing as quickly as fans demand, this past week we’ve received some absolutely glowing product reviews from media experts on some of our latest product lines.

I’ve been testing Other World Computing’s (OWC) Mercury Elite-AL Pro Qx2 RAID system for the past few weeks and have been very impressed…I started off just recording one track of guitar with no plug-ins — admittedly, a pretty simple test, but it worked just fine. Typically, I usually record a couple of guitar tracks — either from mics or digitally — at the same time.

OWCMEQX2T8.0SThe last song I worked on had over 60 tracks that were used at different times during the project. Most of the tracks were recorded audio (guitars, drums, french horns, violins, etc.) that were recorded directly to the drive.

But that’s not all. I also have many gigabytes of drum data from Toontrack’s drum kits stored on the drive. So, not only is Pro Tools reading and recording audio from the drive at the same time, it is also regularly reading files for the drum kits as well.

After a few small tests, I let loose and used the Elite for everything. It stood up to everything I threw at it and continues to.

Two new iPod/iPhone sync cables from NewerTech!

Have you heard about that nifty little gadget by Apple? Apparently it’s some sort of cell phone combined with a music player that you sync using iTunes, and is apparently quite popular…

I am, of course, referring to the near-ubiquitous iPhone. To avoid hearing about it or its music-only iPod brethren, you’d have to avoid television, radio, magazines, Web sites, and pretty much not go out in public at all. In other words, its everywhere.

With something that popular, there are going to be a lot of people using it in a lot of different ways. This opens the door for all kinds of different accessories.

Newer Technology, no stranger to the iPod arena, has released a couple of new sync cables. The first, the NewerTech 3 in 1 Audio/Sync/Charging Cable for iPod and iPhone is a standard sync cable, with something a little extra – a mini stereo jack that outputs a line-level signal. Now you can go from charging and playing music at your desk, to playing your music in your Auxiliary input equipped car stereo without changing cords.

If you don’t have a car stereo with an Auxiliary input, but would still like to charge your phone in the car, NewerTech has also released an auto charger. It does what it says: plug one end into your iPod/iPhone, the other into your car’s 12V accessory outlet  and your iPod/iPhone will charge as you drive.

NTautoPsst… a secret tip.

While each of the two cables is useful in its own right, they really shine when you’ve got both pieces. The auto adapter features a USB connection – the sync cable is a standard USB/dock connector cable.

You can plug the “3 in 1” cable into the auto/USB adapter component of the auto adapter and use it to charge AND play through. You can then use the cable from the auto adapter as a second sync cable, useful for work, travel, or replacement. This allows you to sync, charge and play music from your iPod/Phone via iTunes when at your desk, then unplug from your desktop and continue to listen and charge in the car.

And if you want to charge your iPod/iPhone via a wall adapter at home or while traveling, just use the new Auto Charger with NewerTech’s 120-12V Power Adapter.

This is definitely a case where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts!
