There may be just a few days left until Christmas, but there’s still time to give this holiday season and make a difference in the world. The OWC 25th Year Kickoff Celebration fundraising effort to raise $125,000 for charity: water continues, and with our latest donation match contribution, we’re closing in on the halfway point of that goal. The $45,634 raised through OWC’s efforts has helped bring clean water to 2,281 people so far, but many more need our help.
On average, every $20 raised by charity: water brings clean, safe drinking water to one person meaning any $20 donation you make combined with the OWC match will change two lives forever. OWC will match these donations until December 31, so to take advantage, you’ll have to act soon. And OWC will also donate $1 for each new Twitter follower it gets through December 31, making it easier than ever to help this cause.

Although Other World Computing’s “25th Year Kickoff Celebration” sweepstakes comes to a close at 11:59 p.m. EST tonight, our effort to raise $125,000 for charity: water will keep on rolling. Here’s this week’s update.
- First, we’ll mention the 432 new entries in our OWC 25th Year Kickoff Celebration Sweepstakes, bringing our “dollar an entry” pledge to $5,315. And there’s still time to help add to this total by entering our sweepstakes, but you’ll have to act fast!
- And thanks to our Black Friday, CyberMonday and #GivingTuesday $5 Accelerator, we’ve donated $5,385 for our new Twitter followers in the last week bringing the total to $11,545 so far.
- And finally, we had an additional $6,480 in independent pledges to our charity: water portal page, which brings us to a total of $13,901 in donations that we’ll be matching.
Even though our Sweepstakes ends today, you can still help us out through December 31 by following our Twitter feed or by donating directly.
Our effort to raise $125,000 for charity: water continues to move forward. Here’s this week’s update.
First let’s start with donations for new Twitter followers. We gained 171 new followers last week, bringing our total contributions there to $6,160.
Next, we had 1,317 new entries in our OWC 25th Year Kickoff Celebration Sweepstakes, bringing our “dollar an entry” pledge to $4883.
We also had an additional $1195 in independent pledges to our charity: water portal page, which brings us to a total of $7421 in donations that we’ll be matching.
We’re closer today than we were last week, Help us out by following our Twitter feed (which will bring in $5 per new subscriber this weekend, rather than $1), donating directly, or entering our Sweepstakes. Time is running out on that last one, though; Sweepstakes entry ends November 30.
To enhance its 25th year of service celebration, OWC will increase donations to its charity: water campaign from $1.00 to $5.00 for every new OWC Twitter follower recorded from Black Friday (November 23) until the end of Cyber Monday (November 26).
By offering a unique, no cost philanthropic twist to these shopping days – ‘you follow socially, we give the gift of financial resources’ – OWC will continue on its goal of offering permanent solutions for providing safe, clean drinking water to people in developing nations.
We’re not usually ones to simply repost other articles, but this one got everybody around the office chuckling, so we decided to share it with you.
Oprah plugs Surface tablet — from her iPad
Yes, you read that right – Oprah just Tweeted how much she loves her new MS Surface tablet – and did it from an iPad.
Take a second to let the irony sink in.
Just to make things more amusing, recall that the iPad itself was a “favorite thing ever” in 2010; it seems to have maintained its longevity.
Of course, for less… confusing… Tweets, make sure to subscribe to the OWC Twitter feed. If you subscribe before December 31, OWC is making a contribution to our charity: water fundraiser for each new subscriber.
