An Update on OWC’s charity:water Campaign

Our effort to raise $125,000 for charity: water continues to move forward. Here’s this week’s update.

First let’s start with donations for new Twitter followers. We gained 171 new followers last week, bringing our total contributions there to $6,160.

Next, we had 1,317 new entries in our OWC 25th Year Kickoff Celebration Sweepstakes, bringing our “dollar an entry” pledge to $4883.

We also had an additional $1195 in independent pledges to our charity: water portal page, which brings us to a total of $7421 in donations that we’ll be matching.

We’re closer today than we were last week, Help us out by following our Twitter feed (which will bring in $5 per new subscriber this weekend, rather than $1), donating directly, or entering our Sweepstakes. Time is running out on that last one, though; Sweepstakes entry ends November 30.

A Unique Black Friday/Cyber Monday Deal Twist

To enhance its 25th year of service celebration, OWC will increase donations to its charity: water campaign from $1.00 to $5.00 for every new OWC Twitter follower recorded from Black Friday (November 23) until the end of Cyber Monday (November 26).

By offering a unique, no cost philanthropic twist to these shopping days – ‘you follow socially, we give the gift of financial resources’ – OWC will continue on its goal of offering permanent solutions for providing safe, clean drinking water to people in developing nations.

OWC’s charity:water Campaign Going Strong

This is just a quick update to our effort to raise $125,000 for charity: water.

First let’s start with donations for new Twitter followers. We gained 128 new followers last week, bringing our total contributions there to $5,989.

Next, we had 642 new entries in our OWC 25th Year Kickoff Celebration Sweepstakes, bringing our “dollar an entry” pledge to $3566.

We also had an additional $346 in independent pledges to our charity: water portal page, which brings us to a total of $6226 in donations that we’ll be matching.

We’re on our way, but we still have a long way to go. Help us out by following our Twitter feed, donating directly, or entering our Sweepstakes. Better hurry on that last one, though; Sweepstakes entry ends November 30.

OWC Marks 25th Year with a Fundraiser for charity: water

Other World Computing is celebrating its 25th year of providing award-winning Mac and PC products/services and green business practices with a fundraiser for charity: water. A non-profit organization, charity: water uses 100 percent of the donations received for bringing sustainable safe drinking water solutions to people in developing nations.

To help reach its goal of $125,000 by the end of 2012, OWC will match up to $62,500 in donations made via their fundraising portal on the charity: water site.

In many developing countries, bogs and swamps are the only source of water. People spend hours lugging heavy containers of the tainted water to their villages every day. Clean drinking water is often literally under these people’s feet, but they don’t know how to find it or how to bring it up from the ground.

charity: water focuses on helping communities develop permanent water solutions such as freshwater wells, rainwater catchments and sand filters and teaching them how to maintain them. Article Continues…

OWC Well On Its Way To charity: water Goal

Last week, OWC Larry talked about charity: water, an organization dedicated to permanently supplying clean, safe drinking water to needy communities all around the world.

As part of our 25th Anniversary celebrations, OWC has set a goal of raising $125,000 total to support charity: water for the drilling of new wells in areas of most need. We’re one week into our campaign, and here’s a breakdown so far.

  • For every new follower of OWC’s Twitter feed from November 1 to December 31, OWC is donating $1 to the fund. To date, we’ve contributed $472 this way, plus $4989 for our pre-celebration existing followers.
  • We’ve also pledged a dollar for every entry in the OWC 25th Year Kickoff Celebration Sweepstakes, which has brought in $2924 so far.
  • Last, but not least, we’re matching general donations up to $62,500, too. From 10/25 to 11/8, we contributed $5880 to the fund.

Combined with your donations, we’ve raised nearly $20,000 – about 16% of the way to our goal. That’s a great start, and with your help by following on Twitter, entering our Sweepstakes, making a direct contribution, and/or simply just telling others about this mission, we know we can reach our goal.
