Power Savings with the PowerCost Monitor

It’s no secret that we at Other World Computing love the environment and want to help protect it. We also love our customers and want to protect them…from high electricity bills!

And while some surprises are good (birthday parties, finding $20, someone bringing in chocolate cake to work), no one likes to be surprised with a high electric bill.

With the PowerCost Monitor, you can account for all the energy used in your home from moment to moment. It allows you to track the energy used when your kids stay up all night “doing homework” (trying to beat the next level on their video game) or when your significant other decides what he or she wants to eat while leaving the refrigerator door open, thus cooling the house an entire degree.

You can even see how much it costs not only in dignity but in electricity to leave those Christmas lights up and on until late March…(neighbors, I’m looking in your direction…)

And the best part? You don’t have to be an electrician to understand the PowerCost Monitor! The Monitor calculates electricity usage and converts it in to kilowatt-hours as well as dollars and cents when you program in your utility’s electric rate. The Sensor Unit is easy to install and attaches to the outside of your electric utility meter. It then transfers this information to the PowerCost Monitor, which has a range of up to 100 feet from the sensor unit.

It’s just like tracking your monthly data usage on your cell phone plan so you don’t get hit with overage charges. Or avoiding eating an entire pizza because you don’t want to find out afterwards it contained enough calories to feed a small child for a week. When you can see the immediate effects of lights and appliances being turned off, you are more likely to reduce your consumption.

And with Earth Day coming up it’s important to note that not only will you be saving on your electricity bill, but will also be helping the environment. And we like that here at OWC. And you, we like you too.
