The Verge has posted the story “Apple begins storing user data in China”, which purports the real reason for storing Chinese iPhone users data in that country is to lessen the Chinese government’s fear of spying.
But this story begs another question: do you worry where your data is being stored? If you found out that Apple was backing up your iCloud sync data in China, would you be worried? What if you learned your DropBox was being hosted in Canada? Or if you live in the U.K., your Google account information is stored on servers in the U.S.
Does it matter in today’s day and age of Cloud Computing where the server is physically located to you, or is this not a concern?
