Various leaks have pointed to a Sept. 9 date for Apple’s next major event, and now the company has made it official.
Apple sent silver and white media invitations today with the Apple logo and the “9.9.2014” date in large text followed simply by the cryptic statement of “Wish we could say more.”
Apple is rumored to be unveiling the larger next generation iPhone at the event, and possibly the long-rumored “iWatch.” The event will be at 1 p.m. Eastern time at the Flint Center for the Performing Arts in Cupertino, Calif.
If the company follows the blueprint of years past, it will begin selling the next iPhone a week after the event, along with the wide release of its next mobile operating system iOS 8.
Updated on 9/2: The headline on this post has been updated to reflect that Apple has not officially announced the iPhone 6. Thanks to Bruce Mc for the catch.
