OWC Becomes Contributing Sponsor of John Lennon Educational Tour Bus

head_JLETBWith year-round stops around the country, the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus has been on a 17-year-long tour that would make even the most iconic of 1960s rock bands proud.

But there’s much more to the journey of this state-of-the-art bus than just touring and sharing music with the world. The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus not only educates, but it also gives young people a chance to write, perform, record, and produce original songs and videos in a single day. The Lennon Bus provides free tours and workshops at schools, retailers, festivals, on tours with headlining artists, and at major industry conferences as well.

The massive bright blue bus is loaded with three studios that can be opened up to create a single large studio, and its exterior is artfully decorated with the iconic John Lennon self-portrait. Lennon, of course, was a founding member of the Beatles, which is one of the most successful and celebrated bands in pop music history.

The Lennon Bus tour was inspired by the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, which gives songwriters around the world an opportunity to be heard. The Lennon Bus is able to thrive largely through sponsorships and contributors, and OWC is happy to be a Contributing Sponsor of the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus. OWC has donated several storage solutions and hard drives for backup and archival purposes.

You can see OWC’s donated gear in action when the Lennon Bus stops off in Chicago from Sept. 6-11, and at every other stop on the tour. OWC team members will even be on-site with the Lennon Bus on Thursday, Sept. 11 at the University of Chicago, so if you plan on attending or will be in the area, stop by and say hi.

The tour bus’s other September stops include locations in Wisconsin, Massachusetts and New York, and it will no doubt be somewhere near you on its educational journey.

Update: Due to weather considerations, OWC team members will now be at the Lennon Bus on Thursday, Sept. 11. This article has been changed to reflect that.
