OWC Garden Project Yields Final Harvest of the Season

FinalGardenIn honor of Earth Day back in April, we shared the beginning of our snack garden project started by OWC Margaret.

As the spring and summer wore on, the garden grew and even expanded with an additional garden bed donated by OWC June for all to use. The space was used to grow basil, leeks, pattypan squash, peppers, tomatoes, carrots and Zucchinis by OWC employees, many of whom were self-proclaimed “first time farmers.”

Now with winter approaching, the cold weather at OWC headquarters in Woodstock, Ill. has forced our resident gardeners to make their final harvest of the year, which yielded leeks, rainbow carrots and tarragon. The project was such a success that Margaret has said that the garden project will be started back up in the spring.

OWC is proud to share the step that Margaret and the rest of OWC’s gardeners have taken to make our Woodstock campus a little more green.

“Margaret is a great example of the OWC Difference. She saw an opportunity to share her passion and knowledge for gardening with those that don’t have the space for it,” said OWC President Jen Soule. “We all benefited from being able to look at the beautiful garden, finding new varietals and enjoying some of the extras. Can’t wait for Spring!”
