Koenigsegg Regera: The $1.89 Million iPhone Accessory

The $1.89 Million Koenigsegg Regera

Here’s the perfect gift for the person who has everything: a $1.89 million “hypercar” by Swedish manufacturer Koenigsegg called the Regera. While this may just look like an expensive luxury sports car, it’s actually quite the iPhone accessory since the car supports Apple’s CarPlay.

CarPlay makes it possible for drivers to link their iPhones to an automobile’s built-in infotainment system, then control various aspects of the car from an iPhone app or use the car’s touchscreen to control the phone’s features. While a variety of car manufacturers from Abarth to Volvo have announced that they’ll be supporting CarPlay, there’s only one vehicle shipping at this point that actually has CarPlay built in — the $300,000 Ferrari FF.

Koenigsegg didn’t go into detail on the other smartphone features of the Regera other than to say that “the Regera is the first car in the world that operates all body closures completely automatically. The spectacle to open and close the entire car simultaneously from the remote or smartphone, truly turns the Regera into a transformer.” Having that app on your iPhone would certainly give you bragging rights!

Oh, in addition to the CarPlay feature, the Regera also has some other fascinating features: only 80 of them will be manufactured, it’s a hybrid with a 5.0 liter V8 twin-turbocharger engine and three electric motors, and it can accelerate from 0 to 400 km/h (about 250 mph) in about 20 seconds.

I think I want this more than an Apple Watch Edition.
