Tom Eaton, owner of Green Fields Media, is well aware of and believes in the expression “experience counts”. He has been in the video and radio production and post-production business for more than three decades, and he’s seen and done it all. His work experience includes “on location” production shooting, lighting and sound for big name, big agency clients as well as local spots for regional businesses.
Eaton spends more than half of his time as a “go-to” post-production editor/producer and has produced countless successful projects. He started out in suburban Chicago video production houses, learning all facets of the business. He graduated to working in downtown Chicago Post Houses for major agency clients and then opened his own shop in 1992.
His current facility is in suburban Palatine, Ill. He has three edit suites running Final Cut Pro for video editing along with Pro Tools for audio and a huge selection of other software tools. His Edit Suites are connected to a video network with a 1.2 TB RAID over three chassis. They are “hot swappable” global drives. Any of the three suites has access to any element of any project. He also has an OWC 16 TB Mercury Rack Pro drive in each suite to backup the main server. He has 48GB of memory in his Mac Pro to help his machine keep up with his demanding needs. He also has on OWC Mercury 8 TB Rack Pro (see image below) drive connected to his Pro Tools system for backup.
While he strongly believes in having all the right tools for the job at hand, he takes a practical approach to gear acquisition. He has come to depend on his deep knowledge of the software tools involved and the hardware used to run it. He has been a customer of OWC for years and knows their products are packed with the features and dependability he expects on a daily basis.
Some of the other essential tools he uses on a daily basis include: Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
