Creative Tech: Mobile Photo Editing for Everyone!

Aviary Logo

There are hundreds of millions of iPhones and iPads out in the world, and it’s fair to say that most users are regularly taking photos with their device. The demand for an easy to use, full-featured photo editor that anyone can use is undeniable and there are many apps to choose from. One such application in the picture (pun intended) is a free app for iOS devices called Aviary.

Of course, professionals typically use the more expensive Photoshop. However, it has a steep learning curve for many and is not intended for all users.

If you are like most people, you have hundreds of pictures on your device, many of which are likely quite nice. An app like Aviary makes it a snap to edit the great shots in many ways. Of course, you can crop an image (square for Instagram for instance), change color saturation, adjust contrast, and sharpen the image as expected. These processes are easy to do and you can see what the changes look like in real time before committing to any particular edit.

The real creative fun comes into play as you explore the more esoteric features of the app. You can use special effects that change the overall look of the pic such as daylight, nighttime, urban, etc. There are also many in-app effects purchases available that create lots of exciting looks. You can add a Frame or Overlay around the image, add stickers or text, create a meme, create a vignette effect around the outside of the image, fix red eye and go from color to black and white. All of these effects are incredibly fun to play with and it’s easy to experiment.

When you are finished editing a pic, the app makes it very easy to post the result on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, or Twitter. It is also simple to save the new image to your camera roll or iCloud photo sharing or open the pic in another app. This is a well-designed and highly evolved app that is super fun to use.

One of the best things about Aviary is that it is a free app. There are quite a few in-app purchases available that just add to the fun and exciting ways you can modify, improve and be creative with your photos. Aviary really is the perfect app for users of all ages and skill levels. It is also available in several languages such as French, German, Arabic, Dutch, Japanese, Spanish and more!

  • Hi, thank you fot the recommendation and the review! I have been long using PicsArt mobile picture editor to edit my mobile shots. I would go on and do some compare and contrast of some photo editing apps to see which one suggests more advantages. What would you say?
