Reviewer: ThunderBay 4 ‘The Best Mix of Everything’ for 4K Workflows

ThunderBay4_gall5_largeThe four-bay OWC ThunderBay 4 RAID utilizes powerful Thunderbolt™ 2 technology and the flexibility of SoftRAID to create a powerhouse solution for creative workflows. With support for RAID 0, 1, 4, 5 and 1+0, and speeds of up to 790MB/s, you’ll get an ideal combination of data protection and performance.

Vlady Radev of filmmaking website 4K Shooters has taken notice of the ThunderBay family in the past, coming away impressed with its performance and price point.

More recently, Radev shared a video from cinematographer, photographer and reviewer Max Yuryev who utilizes the ThunderBay 4 and SoftRAID for his own workflow.

As Radev points out, Yuryev “was able to playback and edit simultaneously multiple 4K ProRes clips without any dropped frames.”

In his video review, Yuryev also praises the ThunderBay 4’s combination of security, performance and value. He notes that he has been “recommending the ThunderBay for over a year now because you’re getting the best mix of everything – lots of space, really fast performance, data protection and a really good price.”
