First Impressions: Guy Kawasaki Gives Early Look at OWC Thunderbolt 3 Dock

Recently, tech guru and former Apple Chief Evangelist, Guy Kawasaki, was able to get his hands on the new OWC Thunderbolt 3 Dock for an early look. In a Facebook Live video, Kawasaki showed off the massive connectivity possibilities of the the OWC Thunderbolt 3 Dock.

Check out the video here to see Kawasaki’s initial impressions of the OWC Thunderbolt 3 Dock (beginning at the 3:40 mark), which he calls a “beautiful, elegant solution.” 

The OWC Thunderbolt 3 Dock offers 13 ports of connectivity through an included Thunderbolt 3 cable, and, delivers charging power to your laptop and other devices, all at the fastest speeds possible. The Thunderbolt 3 Dock will ship in Q1 of this year.

Kawasaki also shows off his OWC Envoy (at the 2:20 mark) that houses the SSD from his out of commission MacBook Air in the video.

  • I have asked many times, yet never got a reply: will the SD card reader have extra pins to support maximum read/write speeds (300 MB/s)?

    • Thank you for your question. The OWC Thunderbolt 3 dock will have a SD 3.0 card reader on it. It will not be able to support speeds up to 300MB/s.

  • Thanks for your short review :-) I didn’t find any specs about charging power for this dock so far… Do you maybe know more about that (like is it able to charge 85W for 15″ MBp)?
