Unboxing of 2017 13″ MacBook Pro Base Model Shows Removable SSD

Continuing the Rocket Yard’s unboxing and teardown of the new Macs that Apple announced at WWDC 2017, we take a close look at the base model 2017 13-inch MacBook Pro.

It’s worth noting that the SSD is still removable on this unit, as it was with the 2016 version of the base mode. Check out the video for more from our unboxing and inside look.

  • I don’t suppose you all make an enclosure or adapter for the sdd that comes in this model? My wife’s MBP died and not even the local Apple store is able to get the data off of the stupid proprietary hard drive interface with the logic board.

  • Hi, MacBook Pro 13-inch- 2017 SSD update 128GB to 512Gb if possible or not.
    possible price ????

  • Does anyone know if this fits into the 2016 model that’s non touch bar as well?

  • I just chatted with an OWC agent who stated that OWC doesn’t make PCIe SSD’ds for this model, nor do they sell the DDRAM upgrades, soldered to board. Be nice to know who does make SSD’s for these machines. Too bad, I have bought components fro mOWC before and been happy with them

  • I have seen that the SSD is at minute 1:45.

But has it proprietary connectors and design? I mean, is it possible to replace it with other SSD like Samsung 960 PRO Series – 2TB PCIe NVMe – M.2 Internal SSD (MZ-V6P2T0BW)?

  • Wow! That is great news. What about RAM? It would be useful to have the video transcript.
