A Year in Review: The 10 Most Popular Rocket Yard Posts of 2018

If tag clouds were still a thing, the 2018 tech edition would be dominated by Apple-related topics. The iPhone and new Macs, as well as their OS counterparts, iOS 12 and macOS Mojave, made headlines all year. And the Rocket Yard was there to pass along all of the most important news, tips and commentary surrounding the Apple universe.

Don’t be ashamed if you were one of the people who needed to Google the answer to this simple question – you had A LOT of company. Sure, it turns out the answer is as easy as the push of a button. But in your defense, it’s a rare un-intuitive gesture required on an Apple product. And besides, answering questions such as these is why we’re here!

As you’ll notice on this list, macOS Mojave was of much interest to our readers. But all wasn’t well in 10.14 land. Along with its great features, Mojave also caused its share of issues. Fortunately, we were able to figure them out and teach readers how to fix them.

Not only did Mojave break a thing or two – it also slowed some things down for some users. Once again, the Rocket Yard was there to help bring back that lost performance with some tweaks.

As soon as macOS Mojave was announced, the Rocket Yard was among the first to share the operating system’s new default wallpaper before the beta was even available! The dark Mojave theme (above) is still the soothing background of choice for this author. 


5) GPU Upgrade Makes Mac Pro Tower Mojave Compatible and a Contender with 2013 Model

The silver tower Mac Pro is still hugely popular among the upgrade crowd as well as creative professionals. So, many were initially disappointed to learn that Mojave would leave it behind. However, that changed when it was annoucned that a GPU upgrade would bring compatibility back. It also makde it about as powerful as the newer Mac Pros (above).
