Other World Computing Earns Inc. 5,000 “Fastest Growing Privately Owned Companies in America” List Honors for Fourth Consecutive Year

Other World Computing announced today that it has been named for the fourth consecutive year to the Inc. 5,000 “Fastest Growing Privately Owned Companies in America” list as a result of a three year growth rate of 41% which placed the LEED Platinum certified, wind powered firm at 175 on the “Top Retail” list and 3,741 on the overall 5,000 honorees list. This exclusive ranking list by Inc. magazine represents a comprehensive look at America’s independent-minded entrepreneurs, defined by Inc. 500/5000 selection methodology as U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent — not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies as of December 31, 2009.

Other World Computing debuted on the inaugural Inc. 5,000 “Fastest Growing Privately Owned Companies” List in 2007 with a “Computer and Electronics Top 100” category ranking of 78 and a 3,378 overall ranking. For a complete profile of OWC’s ranking statistics over the past three years, visit:

“The leaders of the companies on this year’s Inc. 5000 have figured out how to grow their businesses during the longest recession since the Great Depression,” said Inc. president Bob LaPointe. “The 2010 Inc. 5000 showcases a particularly hardy group of entrepreneurs.”

“Being recognized by Inc. magazine for the fourth straight year as one of the country’s fastest growing privately held companies is indeed an honor during challenging economic conditions,” said Larry O’Connor, Founder and CEO, Other World Computing. “We will continue in our mission to provide our customers with the highest quality products they need to get the most value from their technology investment and support their trust and loyalty with best-in-class customer service.”

  • I wonder if that growth has to do with the brand quality expected from OWC?

I had a user with a corrupted laptop hard drive and when they went to look at their Western Digital “One Touch” backup drive, they couldn’t find any recent backups. When I looked at their corrupted drive in an OWC Mercury Elite-AL Pro mini enclosure, I discovered that the WD backup software was saving backups of the INTERNAL drive to the INTERNAL drive!! Ugh!

This user has been kicked to order an OWC drive and I’ll be teaching him how to use Time Machine.

    • Aw shucks…thanks. We do feel a bit odd blowin’ our own horn…but we primarily mentioned this achievement with social media to show others not in the OWC fold yet that we are a company that is consistent in its efforts to earn customers trust and loyalty.
I say consistent because since the program originated in 2007, we’ve made the list every year. What is a shame is the organizers cannot provide a list of how many companies have achieved that distinction. And going thru 20K names to figure that out is not my idea of fun…;-)
